Extended information on the use of cookies

What cookies are

Cookies are small strings of text that the sites the user visits send to his or her browser, where they are stored to be retransmitted to the same sites while browsing or the next time the same user visits them. When the user is browsing a site, his or her terminal may also receive cookies sent by other sites or web servers (“third party” cookies), which may carry elements (such as images, maps, sounds, specific links to pages in other domains, etc.) present on the site he or she is visiting. In this way, for example, cookies allow and/or facilitate access to certain Internet pages in order to improve the user’s browsing (i.e. they allow the storage of pages visited and other specific information, such as frequently viewed pages, connection errors, etc.), or they allow profiling activities. Therefore, in order to facilitate the full and easy use of a website, it would be appropriate for the user to configure his/her browser to accept the receipt of such cookies.

Type of cookies used by the website

Technical cookies

Technical cookies enable activities closely related to the operation of the site. The technical cookies used by the Data Controller can be divided into the following subcategories:

  • Browsing or session cookies

    to save browsing preferences and optimise the user’s browsing experience. These are key cookies for navigating the site using all its functions, such as maintaining the session and access to restricted areas. They are necessary, because otherwise the services requested could not be provided. These cookies do not collect information to be used for commercial purposes. The use of session cookies, which are not stored persistently on the user’s computer and disappear when the browser is closed, is strictly linked to the transmission of session identification data (comprising random numbers generated by the server) required for secure and efficient browsing of the site. The session cookies used on this site mean that it is unnecessary to use other IT technologies, which may prejudice users’ privacy, and do not allow the acquisition of personal data identifying the user;

  • Analytics cookies

    which are used to acquire statistical information about the users’ browsing. They collect and analyse information on the use of the website by the users (visited pages, number of accesses, time spent on the website, etc…) in order to optimise the management of the site. This information is processed in aggregate and anonymous form, and these cookies do not collect any information identifying the user.

Such cookies do not require the prior consent of the user to be installed and used (see the Measure of 8 May 2014 issued by the Italian Personal Data Protection Authority: “Identification of simplified methods for the informational disclosure and the acquisition of the consent on the use of cookies”). The web site works optimally only if the technical cookies are enabled. However, you may decide not to allow the use of cookies on your computer by changing the settings of your browser as described below. Please note, however, that disabling the cookies may result in some functions of the site to be disabled as well.

Type of cookies or tools by third parties that may use them for statistical purposes

The services contained in this section allow the Data Controller to monitor and analyse traffic data and serve to track user behaviour.

Google Analytics with anonymised Internet Protocol address

Google Analytics is a web analysis service provided by Google Inc. (“Google”), a third party company with respect to the Data Controller. Google uses the personal data collected from the users in order to track and examine the use of this online space, to compile reports and share them with other services developed by Google. Google may use the personal data to contextualise and personalise the ads of its own advertising network. This integration of Google Analytics anonymises the Internet Protocol address (IP address). Anonymisation means abbreviating the IP address of users within the borders of the Member States of the European Union or other countries party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases will the IP address be sent to Google’s servers and abbreviated within the United States.

Personal data collected: cookies and use data.

Please note that disabling all cookies the operation of this site may be prevented.
